Synopsis
Growing up alone, without a mother, made Richard Englefield a pensive man, devoted to truth and the evidence of science. He became an astute businessman, engineer, publisher, writer, artisan and finally a composer of twelve symphonies. He also was formerly a candidate for President of the United States and the United States Senate. A newspaper writer began her article about the storied composer by saying, "Richard Englefield has nearly done it all." Today, Richard Englefield readies his web site to introduce his new autobiography and the two "New Classics" CDs. Included on those CDs are recordings of three symphonic poems by the London Symphony Orchestra and his Symphony No. 4 recorded by the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (Czech Republic). The second CD was recorded by the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra and brings us Mr. Englefield's Violin Concerto and Symphony No. 3. The CDs are on the "New Classics" label. The book takes us through his life's experiences enroute to many places and numerous discoveries, all of which led to his varied career as engineer, statesman, businessman, and finally composer of twelve symphonies. It is, in every sense of the word, a journey. His writings on the legal profession are no less interesting than his expose of problems within the classical music profession. The text is in many respects far more educational and enlightening than biographical. Mr. Englefield's first symphony was to be a legacy for his children. His autobiography is an edifying experience which will serve future generations no differently than his magnificent symphony compositions. The composer masterfully reveals the intimate and expansive ideations spawned at the time of contemplating his first Daybreak in the Forest Symphony. The symphony, composed in 1993, was dedicated by the composer to the leaders of East and West that brought an end to the Cold War and was featured on the Voice of America Radio Broadcast Network throughout the world.
