Englefield, Richard H. - born Springfield, Ohio 1937. Studied music very briefly; two piano lessons at age 7 and a Continuing Education piano class at Univ. of Buffalo (age 20). Visited chamber orchestras and sat in various sections to learn virtuosity of instruments. Dreamed of symphony composition following a sixth grade book report on the life of Tchaikovsky. Primarily worked in the paper industry in New York (10 years) then as surveyor and high rise construction engineer (15 years). Was a candidate for President of the United States in 1976 and the U. S. Simon James performed Englefield's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra with the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Maestro Kirk Trevor, Conductor of the London Symphony, Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic (Czech Republic) and Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestras during CD recordings of Englefield Symphonies.
